Activity Registration
We are excited to announce that activity registration is now OPEN for 7th and 8th graders! All participants must have the registration completed and a physical dated on or after April 15, 2026, before the activity start date. Please be sure to take the time to update your participant's age, grade, and delete any outdated sports physicals in your profile.
Participation fee payments are made through Arbiter during the registration process. While online payment is preferred, cash or checks made out to Cheney Middle School are also accepted in the office. If your family receives free or reduced lunch, please select yes during the registration process and type OK in the box below stating that you understand the information will be verified.
IMPORTANT: If your student is participating in a 7-12 activity through West Fargo High, they need to be registered under Cheney Middle School.
2026 Fall Activities Starting Dates:
Basketball, Girls - Cheney Middle School -Coaches: Dennis Healy, Caleb Tuohy, Chelsea Hendricks and Nancy Wentz. Starts Oct 19, 2026 @ 3:45 at CMS gyms. Grades 7 & 8.
Clubs & Organizations - Cheney Middle School- Form & Fitness- Coaches: Ryan Carlson and George Gauld. Starts Oct 19 at 3:40pm at CMS upper Gym. Grades 6-8.
Wrestling, Girls - Sheyenne High School- Starts Nov 9 @ SHS

NDHSAA Physicals For 2026-2027 School Year
Any physical dated after April 15, 2026 is good for the 2026-2027 school year. All athletes will need a new physical on file every year before they can participate in their athletic activity. Don't wait - get it done today!
Physical Information from NDHSAA:
Prior to participation (including practice) a student participating in NDHSAA sanctioned athletic activities and representing his/her school must have on file with their school, an annual NDHSAA-approved Athletic Pre-Participation Health History Screening and Physical Examination clearance form completed by a qualified health care professional (i.e. Doctor of Medicine of Osteopathy, Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant under the supervision of a physician); the Athletic Pre-Participation Health History Screening and Physical Examination is valid for one school year; a physical examination completed before April 15 is not valid for participation the following school year.

Intramural & Club Information:
6th GRADE ATHLETICS
There are several 6th grade intramural athletic opportunities intentionally designed for 6th graders throughout the school year. These are usually around ten sessions of non-competitive sports with a teacher advisor.
6-8 GRADE CLUBS
Cheney also provides numerous after-school clubs for students in grades 6-8. These opportunities vary from year to year based on advisor availability and funding.
